Privacy
This site shows no advertisements and does not track you across other sites.
To rank stories, we count without cookies how often a story is shown, opened, shared, or clicked through to the publisher. Each visitor is counted once per day for each story using a daily rotating token derived from the IP address and browser; we store neither the address nor the browser, keeping only totals per story. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, you are not counted at all.
If you hide sources or categories without signing in, your choices are stored only in your browser in the signed mosaic_prefs cookie for one year. The mosaic_display and mosaic_loading cookies store your chosen text size, density, and automatic list loading preference for one year. The signed mosaic_time cookie stores your timezone choice for this device for one year; in automatic mode it neither stores nor sends the browser timezone. The signed mosaic_language cookie stores your chosen language on this device for one year; when you are fully signed in, your profile language takes precedence. The signed mosaic_weather cookie stores for one year only the city you explicitly ask to remember on this device; you can change or clear it in weather preferences without signing in.
When you create an account, we store your email address, display name, and preferences so we can serve them to you. The mosaic_session cookie is used only for your sign-in session and expires after two hours of inactivity on the server. If you choose to stay signed in, mosaic_remember keeps the sign-in for 30 days. If you choose to trust this device for two-factor verification, mosaic_trusted_device stores that choice for 30 days and is never sufficient on its own to sign in.
Your votes on stories are private: we never show them to anyone, nor the exact count (a count is shown only when at least five readers have voted, and only as “at least”). We keep them for 90 days, delete them with your account, and only abuse-prevention staff may inspect them under audit logging. Your karma is private and comes only from contributions accepted by editors.
Listed articles belong to their publishers. Links lead to their sites, where their own privacy policies apply.
